My Uncle worked for the city for 40 years. He recently passed. My grandmother my mother and the rest of his siblings have passed way. He lived in a nursing home for over 12 years. I was put down as his next of kin because everyone passed away. I also payed for his cremation and currently trying to see if he could get buried by the military because he was in Vietnam. I have not filled yet with Nycers as of yet but have informed them of his death.

Being he was retired tier 1 worker would I be entitled to any death benefits?

Hello Peter,

Unfortunately, this faq is to answer questions on how to locate certain pension reports online. We cannot answer questions that relate to the different Pension funds.

As I understand the process, you have to go the the NYCERs site and fill out the information in an online form. Here is the web address: https://online.nycers.org/ReportOfDeath/

I hope that this helps.
