In general, benefits are calculated by multiplying a predetermined accrual rate, years of service and the final pensionable salary at the time of separation from City service for eligible employees. The accrual rate varies from pension plan to pension plan as does the determination of final pensionable salary used in calculating pension benefits. The mode of calculation for disability and death benefits may be different.
